New Hampton, Iowa – May 23, 2024 – If you drive on Iowa 3 in Oelwein between the northern city limits and 9th Avenue Southeast you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 28, until late August, weather permitting, crews will need to intermittently close one lane so full-depth patching and diamond grinding work can take place. Flaggers will assist you through the work zone to keep traffic moving.

The contractor let residents and businesses know when access will be restricted. Businesses with more than one access point will always have at least one open.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
