Council Bluffs, Iowa - June 6, 2024 - The Iowa Department of Transportation has invited contractors, designers, stakeholders, and elected officials to a ceremonial ribbon cutting next week to celebrate the near completion of the Council Bluffs Interstate System Improvement Program. The event will mark a significant milestone in this transformative project and celebrate the collaborative efforts of all who made it possible.

Iowa DOT is nearing the end of a 20-plus-year project, reconstructing I-80, I-29, and I-480 in the Council Bluffs metropolitan area as part of the Council Bluffs Interstate System Improvement Program. This comprehensive interstate redesign has modernized the highway system and improved the mobility and safety of approximately 14 miles of interstate.
