Marshalltown, Iowa β July 25, 2024 β If you drive on Interstate 35 between Huxley and Ames you need to be aware of upcoming nighttime closures of I-35 that may slow down your trip.
The Iowa DOT will need to close I-35 from Iowa 210 to U.S. 30 nightly on Tuesday, July 30, and Wednesday, July 31, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., weather permitting, so crews can place beams for the 315th Street bridge over I-35.
While the roadway is closed, you will follow a marked detour route around the work zone using Iowa 210, Story County Road R-38, and U.S. 30 (see map). Please note that due to ongoing construction work, U.S. 69 between Huxley and Ames is currently closed.
Changes could be made to detour routes during the construction season. Please visit 511ia.org for current detour route information before traveling through this construction zone and pay attention to detour signing and messages boards while driving.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
