Davenport, Iowa – Sept. 18, 2024 – If you travel on Eastbound Interstate 80 near 1st Avenue (Coralville Exit 242) you need to be aware of an overnight project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.

In order for crews to place permanent pavement markings, the eastbound I-80 off- and on- ramps at 1st Avenue will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. The ramps will reopen Friday morning, Sept. 23, at 6 a.m., weather permitting.

The following marked detours will be in place.

  • Eastbound I-80 off ramp at 1st Avenue Closure: Traffic will be detoured to the eastbound I-80 off ramp at Dubuque Street (Exit 244) and directed to follow westbound I-80 back to 1st Avenue.
  • Eastbound I-80 on ramp at 1st Avenue Closure: Traffic will be rerouted to the westbound I-80 off ramp at Coral Ridge Avenue (Exit 240) and follow the marked detour to eastbound I-80.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
