Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Oct. 4, 2024 – If you drive on U.S. 30 and Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.
Crews need to make repairs to a bridge at the U.S. 30/I-380 interchange and intermittently close lanes and ramps on north- and southbound I-380 at the interchange with U.S. 30, on U.S. 30, and the northwest and southeast loops from U.S. 30 to I-380. These closures will occur on the following dates and times:
- Friday, Oct. 4 from 8 p.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 5
- Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 p.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 6
- Sunday, Oct. 6, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7
Crews will also be working on the project on the following dates and times next weekend:
- Friday, Oct. 11 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12
- Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13
- Sunday, Oct. 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14
When lanes and ramps are closed and work is taking place, you will follow a marked detour route using I-380/Iowa 27 and U.S. 30/U.S. 151/U.S. 218.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
