Ames, Iowa – Oct. 29, 2024 – With the mild temperatures we’ve had this fall it’s hard to believe that winter is around the corner. Before we know it, colder temperatures and changing precipitation will impact our daily activities. When winter weather hits, travel conditions can vary widely from one corner of the state to the next.

In conjunction with Winter Weather Awareness Day, join us for a webinar from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 to give you, our media partners, a glimpse into what the Iowa departments of transportation and public safety and the National Weather Service do to prepare for the winter season and how we gear up for and respond to each unique storm.

We will also share tips on how to best work with our agencies, introduce resources available to you to enhance your winter weather reporting, and give you a chance to ask our agency representatives questions.

Presenters:

  • Andrea Henry, Iowa DOT Outreach & Development Director
  • Craig Bargfrede, Iowa DOT Winter Operations Administrator
  • Alex Dinkla, Iowa State Patrol Public Information Officer
  • Chad Hahn, NOAA/National Weather Service-Des Moines
  • Sinclair Stolle, Iowa DOT 511 Administrator
