Fairfield, Iowa – Feb. 19, 2025 – If you drive on Iowa 1 and Iowa 22 between Iowa 92 and Kalona you need to be aware of an upcoming event that may slow down your trip.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, weather permitting, crews will start the process of moving a barn 17.3 miles from 2830 220th Street, Ainsworth, to 7th Street near Kalona. The route will use Spruce Avenue, 210th Street, Redwood Avenue, 190th Street/Washington County Road G-26, Iowa 1, and 170th Street. Crews plan on ending the first day of the move after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Iowa 1 and 170th Street.

On the second day of the move, crews will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. They will start moving the barn from the intersection of Iowa 1 and 170th Street, moving north and continuing east on East Avenue/Iowa 22. They will be finished with the move around 2 p.m. when they arrive at 7th Street.
