Mason City, Iowa – April 1, 2025 – If you travel on Iowa 122 in Mason City you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip.
Beginning on Monday, April 14, weather permitting, a multi-year, multi-stage project on Iowa 122 will begin. Stage one will include two separate construction zones at the Pierce Avenue and Monroe Avenue intersections. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Iowa 122 through those intersections, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office.
Construction work at the intersections for stage one of the project is anticipated to take two to three weeks. You will always have access to the hospital and will receive future updates about the construction work and traffic pattern changes on Iowa 122.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
