Cedar Rapids, Iowa – April 3, 2025 – If you drive on northbound Interstate 380, Penn Street, and Wright Brothers Boulevard (exit 13) in Cedar Rapids you need to be aware of nighttime lane closures and ramp closures for two separate projects that may impact your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 to 6 a.m. on Friday, April 4, weather permitting, crews will close the entrance ramp from Penn Street to northbound I-380 so crews can work on the Penn Street project. You will follow a marked detour route on southbound I-380 to Forevergreen Road (exit 2).
The ramp from northbound I-380 to Penn Street will be closed from 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 to 6 a.m. on Friday, April 4. You will follow a marked detour route to reach the Forevergreen Road ramp (exit 2).
Southbound I-380 will be closed at Wright Brothers Boulevard (exit 13) will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday, April 3, until 5 a.m. on Friday, April 4. The same road closure is also scheduled for 11 p.m. on Monday, April 7, until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8. These closures will allow crews to work on the project on Wright Brothers Boulevard. You will use the Exit 13 ramps to travel around the work zone.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
