Ames, Iowa – April 4, 2025 – Crews from the Iowa Department of Transportation need to close the inside and middle lanes of Interstate 80/35 at U.S. 6/Hickman Road this morning at 11:45 a.m. to make an emergency repair to the roadway, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 1 Office.

The two lanes will be reopened to traffic at approximately 2 p.m. to accommodate traffic during the afternoon commute.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
