Grimes, Iowa – April 11, 2025 – If you drive on Interstate 80/I-35 and U.S. 6/Hickman Road near the Hickman Road interchange you need to be aware of upcoming ramp closures that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office.
The following ramps will be closed on Monday, April 21, weather permitting.
- Southbound on-ramp to I-80/I-35 at the U.S. 6/Hickman Road interchange (exit 125)
- Southbound off-ramp from I-80/I-35 to University Avenue (exit 124)
When the ramps are closed you will follow a marked detour route that uses Douglas Avenue, Douglas Parkway, Northwest 128th Street, University Avenue, and I-80/I-35 (see map).
Visit the Iowa DOT website for additional information about construction at the U.S. 6/Hickman Road interchange.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
