FAIRFIELD, Iowa – May 28, 2025 – If you travel on Iowa 92 between U.S. 218 and Iowa 70 you need to be aware of an upcoming road construction project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Fairfield construction office.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 2, until mid-October, weather permitting, Iowa 92 will be closed so crews can reconstruct the drainage structures and highway from Louisa County Road X-17 to Second Street in the City of Columbus Junction.
While the roadway is closed, you will follow marked detour routes (see map) using Louisa County roads W-66, G-52, and local routes in the cities of Columbus City and Columbus Junction (see map).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
