DAVENPORT, Iowa – May 30, 2025 – If you travel on the Iowa 136 bridge over the Mississippi River between Clinton, Iowa and Fulton, Ill. you need to be aware of an upcoming closure of the bridge that could slow down your trip, according to the Iowa DOT’s Davenport construction office.

Crews will close the Iowa 136 bridge over the Mississippi River starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 9, until November 2025, weather permitting, so crews can make repairs to the bridge deck and perform maintenance work. During this closure you will follow a marked detour route that uses U.S. 67, Illinois Route 84, and U.S. 30, so you can cross the river (see map).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
