SIOUX CITY, Iowa – June 26, 2025 – If you travel on U.S. 75 in Sioux City you need to be aware of an upcoming closure that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Sioux City construction office.

Between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, weather permitting, crews will be closing the exit ramps at Outer Drive North/28th Street (exit 97) so they can grind the pavement on the ramps.  The ramps will not be closed at the same time.

When the exit ramps are closed you will follow one of the following marked detour routes:

Northbound U.S. 75

  • To reach Outer Drive North/28th Street you will travel on U.S. 75 and exit at Exit 99, then travel southbound on U.S. 75 and back to Outer Drive/28th Street (exit 97).

Southbound U.S. 75

  • To reach Outer Drive North/28th Street you will travel on U.S. 75 and exit at Exit 93, then travel northbound on U.S. 75 and back to Outer Drive/28th Street (exit 97).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
