SIOUX CITY, Iowa – July 25, 2025 – Iowa 9 from the Osceola County line to Iowa 86 in Dickinson County is closed for a concrete pavement rehabilitation project, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 office. 

Beginning on Monday, July 28, weather permitting, crews will begin paving the roadway. While the roadway is closed during this project, you will follow the marked detour route that uses Iowa 86, 213th Avenue, Dickinson/Osceola County Road A-34/220th Street, and Osceola County Road M-18/White Avenue. The detour route will change in mid-August to Iowa 86, Dickinson/Osceola County Road A-22, Dickinson/Osceola County Road M-34, Dickinson/Osceola County Road A-34/220th Street, and Osceola County Road M-18/White Avenue.

Access to businesses and residences along the route will be available. You are reminded to travel towards the nearest side road to exit the construction area and avoid taking Iowa 9 through the project.

The anticipated project completion date is mid-to-late October.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
