COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Aug. 21, 2025 – If you drive on Iowa 127 in Mondamin you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) District 4 Office. 

Beginning on Monday, Sept. 15, until Friday, Sept. 19, weather permitting, crews will close Iowa 127 for a project at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing. 

When the roadway is closed, you will follow a marked detour route by traveling on Interstate 29 to U.S. 30 near Missouri Valley, then travel on U.S. 30 to Iowa 127 to reach Mondamin.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
