SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Aug. 29, 2025 – If you travel on Interstate 29 in the Sioux City area you need to be aware of upcoming nighttime ramp closures and intermittent lane closures that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa DOT’s District 3 office.
Beginning on Monday, Sept. 8, weather permitting, crews will begin the process of removing concrete barrier rail.
On weeknights beginning on Monday, Sept. 8, until Friday, Sept. 12, there will be intermittent closures of the southbound I-29 to eastbound U.S. 20/northbound U.S. 75 (Ramp F) and the westbound U.S. 20/southbound U.S. 75 to southbound I-29 ramps (Ramp G).
Starting on Monday, Sept. 15, until Friday Sept. 19, there will be intermittent lane closures on north- and southbound I-29.
On Thursday night, Sept. 18 to Friday, Sept. 19, the eastbound I-129 to northbound I-29 (Loop D) on ramp and the northbound I-29 off-ramp to westbound I-129 (Loop E) will be closed.
Portable digital message boards will alert you to the work zones and lane and ramp closures.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
