AMES, Iowa – Sept. 9, 2025 – The Iowa Transportation Commission today approved more than $8 million in funding to replace 40 public transit vehicles past their intended useful life. Funds are granted through the Federal Transit Administration’s Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Formula Program as well as the Federal Highway Administration’s Carbon Reduction Program. Vehicle replacement projects were approved for 16 different public transit systems.
