GRIMES, Iowa – Sept. 17, 2025 – Crews from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes field office will be closing the southbound Iowa 5 ramp to southbound U.S. 65/U.S. 65 in Polk County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, weather permitting, so one of the lights on the ramp can be repaired.

When the ramp is closed, you will use the loop ramps in the interchange to detour around the closure.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
