MANCHESTER, Iowa – Sept. 22, 2025 – If you travel on U.S. 20 near Catfish Creek, you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.

Beginning on Sunday night, Sept. 28, weather permitting, crews will begin construction of median crossovers on U.S. 20. You can expect lane closures to be in place nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday nights through Friday mornings for up to six weeks.

During this construction project, the intersection with Century Drive will be closed. You will only be allowed to turn right onto or from Century Drive to reach U.S. 20.

The prime contractor for this $471,000 project is Midwest Concrete.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
