GRIMES, Iowa – Oct. 6, 2025 – If you drive on NW 106th Avenue between Iowa 415 and NW 114th Street, you need to be aware of a short-term road closure that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.

Crews need to close NW 106th Avenue beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6. The closure is expected to last 10 days and will reopen to traffic on Oct. 16, weather permitting. The closure is needed to allow for construction of a culvert across NW 106th Avenue.

When NW 106th Avenue is closed, you will follow a marked detour route that uses NW 102nd Court, NW 101st Way, Iowa 415, Iowa 141, and NW 121st Street.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
