Nighttime Closure of Westbound I-80 from the Southwest Mixmaster to Jordan Creek Parkway (exit 121) scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 2

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Nov. 25, 2025 – The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office wants to let motorists know about a nighttime closure of westbound Interstate 80 that will start at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, and end at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, weather permitting.

Crews need to close westbound I-80 between the Southwest Mixmaster (I-80/I-35/I-235) and Jordan Creek Parkway (exit 121) so they can hang a new sign truss.

When traveling on westbound I-235 during this closure you will exit at the 50th Street off ramp, travel west on University Avenue, turn south onto Jordan Creek Parkway, then exit onto westbound I-80.

If you are traveling on northbound I-35 and want to reach westbound I-80 during this closure you will exit northbound I-80/I-35 at University Avenue (exit 72C), travel west on University Avenue, turn south onto Jordan Creek Parkway, and then exit onto westbound I-80.

If you want to reach westbound I-80 from southbound I-80/I-35 during the closure you will exit at University Avenue (exit 124), travel west on University Avenue, turn south onto Jordan Creek Parkway, and then exit onto westbound I-80.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
