AMES, Iowa – Jan. 13, 2026 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved $4 million in total funding for six projects from the Iowa's Clean Air Attainment Program. The program was created in 1994 for the purpose of reducing transportation-related congestion and air pollution. This funding is available to cities, counties, transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning affiliations, state agencies, and nonprofit organizations through an annual application-based program.

The projects and approved funding amounts are listed below.

  • Adaptive Traffic Control System Phase 1 (Ankeny) - $400,000
  • Enterprise Commute Vanpool (Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency) - $116,800
  • Phase 5 Traffic Signal Master Plan Deployment (Ames) - $1,213,760
  • Traffic Signal System Improvements (Marion) - $653,840
  • 12th Street NW and Pierce Avenue Roundabout (Mason City) - $508,788
  • Utica Ridge Road and East 56th Street Roundabout (Davenport) - $1,106,812
