AMES, Iowa – Feb. 24, 2026 – The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is encouraging the public, freight industry and multimodal transportation representatives, and other interested stakeholders to review and provide comments regarding the draft State Freight Plan.

Developed in coordination with the Iowa Freight Advisory Council (FAC), the State Freight Plan serves as a platform for connecting Iowa’s freight-related initiatives and a tool for informed decision-making aimed at addressing the ongoing challenges of today’s freight system and supply chains. The plan documents immediate and long-range freight planning activities and investments in the state, and provides guidance on how to address issues, adapt to emerging trends, and invest strategically in the freight system to grow a stronger economy and enhance the quality of life for Iowans.
