AMES, Iowa – March 4, 2026 – Tell us what you think about the proposed bridge replacement on U.S. 18 near Spencer in Clay County.
Improvements include replacing the existing bridge with a new longer and wider bridge.
Construction will take place starting in the spring of 2028 and be completed by the end of 2028.
U.S. 18 will be closed during construction and an offsite detour will be utilized. The detour will likely use the following routes:
- County Road M44 south to 360th Street
- East to U.S. 71
- Continue east to the junction of U.S. 71 and U.S. 18
