AMES, Iowa – March 4, 2026 – Tell us what you think about proposed improvements to the U.S. 52 Causeway from the west end of the U.S. 52 bridge over the Mississippi River to the north city limits of Sabula in Jackson County, Iowa.

Changes include:

  • Reconstruct the pavement
  • Widen shoulders
  • Embankment improvements

Traffic will be maintained using one lane of traffic during most of the project. During the paving stage of construction, the causeway will be closed approximately three months. Traffic will then be directed to use the U.S. 67, IL-136, and IL-84 detour. Construction is expected to start Spring of 2027 and targeted for completion Summer of 2028, weather permitting.
