Creston, Iowa – March 25, 2026 – Nighttime maintenance work on Interstate 80 near De Soto in both directions will result in westbound lane closures from Monday April 6 through Wednesday, April 8. Eastbound lane closures are scheduled from Wednesday, April 8 through Friday, April 10, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston Construction Office.

Westbound Closures:

The westbound lane closures include the De Soto Interchange-Exit 110 (U.S. 169/U.S. 6 N. Avenue) to the Exit 113 Interchange (R16/R. Avenue) starting Monday, April 6 through Wednesday, April 8. Westbound I-80 lanes will be closed each night from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and a marked detour will be in place that includes:

  • R16/R. Avenue
  • U.S. 6/290th Street
  • U.S. 6/U.S. 169/N. Avenue

Eastbound Closures:

The eastbound lane closures include the De Soto Interchange-Exit 110 (U.S. 169/Guthrie Avenue) to Exit 117 Interchange (R22/Ute Avenue) starting Wednesday, April 8 through Friday, April 10. Eastbound I-80 lanes will also be closed each night from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and a marked detour will be in place that includes:

  • U.S. 6/U.S. 169/N. Avenue
  • U.S. 6/290th Street
  • R16/R. Avenue

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
