WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – March 30, 2026 – If you travel on eastbound Interstate 80 between Grand Prairie Parkway (Exit 118) and the I-80/I-35/I-235 Southwest Mixmaster need to be aware of upcoming nighttime road closures that may slow down your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.

Crews will close eastbound I-80 nightly on the following nights from 8:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., weather permitting, so crews can install new hot-mix asphalt paving.

  • Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 from Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121) to the I-80/I-35/I-235 Southwest Mixmaster. When the roadway is closed, you will follow a marked detour route using Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121), University Avenue, and I-80/I-35 (Exit 124).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
