HUXLEY, Iowa – April 15, 2026 – If you drive north on Interstate 35 between Ankeny and Ames you need to be aware of an overnight closure for northbound traffic from Iowa 210 (Exit 102) up to U.S. 30 (Exit 111).
Northbound I-35 will be closed between 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, to 5 a.m. Thursday, April 16, weather permitting.
When the interstate is closed, you will follow a detour route around the work zone using the Iowa 210 exit ramp, head west on Iowa 210, north on U.S. 69, and then east on U.S. 30 to reach northbound I-35.
There is currently a marked detour route for the eastbound U.S. 30 entrance ramp that will need to be followed.
Please visit 511ia.org for current detour route information before traveling through this construction zone and pay attention to detour signing and messages boards while driving.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
