SIOUX CITY, Iowa – May 26, 2026 – Motorists using the westbound U.S. 20/U.S. 75 ramp to southbound Interstate 29 should plan for a detour beginning Tuesday, June 2, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Sioux City construction office.

The ramp will be closed through Tuesday, Aug. 4, weather permitting, to allow crews to complete bridge deck overlay work and replace barrier rails on both ramp bridges.

During the closure, you should follow a marked detour:

  1. Travel west on U.S. 20/U.S. 75.
  2. Turn north on I-29 to the Floyd Boulevard Interchange (Exit 147A).
  3. Travel west on Floyd Boulevard to the southbound I-29 entrance ramp.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
