SIOUX CITY, Iowa – June 3, 2026 – Drivers using four ramps along U.S. 20/U.S. 75 between Lakeport Street and the Nebraska state line should plan for nighttime lane and ramp closures from Sunday, June 7, through Sunday, June 14, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Sioux City construction office.
The following four ramps will be affected:
- Eastbound off-ramp to southbound I-29
- Eastbound off-ramp to Lakeport Street
- Westbound on-ramp from Lakeport Street
- Westbound off-ramp to northbound I-29
Crews will paint lane markings on the roadway. Only one ramp will close at a time, and each closure should last about two hours. Crews will also paint the mainline pavement between the ramps.
A message sign will be placed on each ramp one day before its closure. Detour signs will direct drivers to the next exit during closures.
The westbound U.S. 20/U.S. 75 ramp to southbound Interstate 29 will remain closed throughout the duration of the project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
