DUBUQUE, Iowa – June 11, 2026 – If you travel on the U.S. 20/Julien Dubuque Bridge over the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois, you need to be aware of upcoming construction work that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Manchester construction office.

Beginning on Monday, June 15, weather permitting, the eastbound lane on the bridge will be closed to allow for bridge repairs to be performed. The eastbound lane will be reopened each day for the afternoon commute. This traffic pattern will remain in place each business day, weather permitting, until Wednesday, July 1.

The eastbound direction of travel will be detoured on U.S. 61 north to WIS 11 in Wis., then back south on WIS 35.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
