WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – June 25, 2026 – A concrete paving project at the 60th Street entrance ramp to westbound Interstate 80 in West Des Moines requires closing the ramp to traffic at 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, until Nov. 26, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.
During this ramp closure you will follow a marked detour route that takes you north on 60th Street to University Avenue, west on University Avenue to Grand Prairie Parkway, then south on Grand Prairie Parkway to reach westbound I-80 (Exit 118).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
