BETTENDORF, Iowa – July 14, 2026 – Starting Tuesday, July 21, the Iowa DOT in conjunction with the City of Bettendorf, plan to close the Interstate 80 Middle Road Interchange (Exit 301) so crews can continue to work on Middle Road and the new Gateway pedestrian bridge.
To complete this work, Middle Road will be closed at I-80 weekly beginning on Tuesday, July 21, Tuesday, July 28, and Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 6 a.m. Tuesday morning until 6 a.m. Friday morning. Weather permitting, the Middle Road Interchange will be re-opened Friday through Monday weekly during this part of the project.
During the closure, traffic will follow marked detour routes on east- and westbound I-80.

- Travel east/west on I-80 and take Exit 298 for eastbound I-74 toward Bettendorf/Davenport.
- Continue traveling on I-74 to and take Exit 3 for Middle Road toward Locust Street.
- Turn left onto Middle Road and continue traveling on Middle Road.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
