Crews will close U.S. 18 in both directions from Marsh Avenue to Second Avenue/Old Iowa 60 beginning Monday, Aug. 31, until 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, weather permitting. The closure is part of a joint project with Union Pacific Railroad to rehabilitate the railroad crossing.
During the closure, drivers should follow this marked detour:
- At the U.S. 18 and Marsh Avenue intersection, south on Marsh Avenue to Sioux County Road B-20
- East on Sioux County Road B-20/330th Street/W 16th Street to Second Avenue/Old Iowa 60
- North on Second Avenue/Old Iowa 60 back to U.S. 18.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
