AMES, Iowa – Sept. 21, 2026 – Tell us what you think about the proposed bridge replacement over the Des Moines River on Iowa 175, between Dayton and Stratford, in Webster County.
Improvements include:
- Replace the existing 695’-0” x 26’-0” bridge with a 777’-0” x 40’-0” bridge using an off-site detour.
- The roadway immediately adjacent to the bridge will be reconstructed with a 24-foot roadway with 6-foot paved shoulders to tie into the new bridge.
- The guardrail will be replaced and extended with the project.
Construction will take place starting in the summer of 2027 and be completed by the fall of 2028.
Iowa 175 will be closed at this location during construction. Traffic will be maintained on the proposed detour using County Roads P70, E18, and R27.
