SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Sept. 22, 2026 — Crews will open the on-ramp from westbound U.S. 20/U.S. 75 to southbound Interstate 29 in Sioux City this Friday, Sept. 25, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office. Once the ramp opens, the westbound U.S. 20/U.S. 75 on-ramp to northbound I-29 will be closed so crews can complete a bridge deck overlay project and replace barrier rail and overhang on the bridge.
The northbound I-29 ramp will be closed until early November, weather permitting.
During this closure, drivers should follow a marked detour route westbound U.S. 20/U.S. 75 to reach southbound I-29. Drivers will turn off at Singing Hills Boulevard/Bridgeport/Industrial Park (Exit 143), then head east on Singing Hills Boulevard and turn north to reach I-29.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
