SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Sept. 23, 2026 — The Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office’s contractor will close the southbound I-29 on-ramp at westbound Wesley Parkway/eastbound Business U.S. 20 for one night, Sunday, Sept. 27, weather permitting. The closure is needed for bridge deck work, including deck and rail sealing, on the I-29 bridge in Sioux City.
During the closure, drivers should follow a marked detour: north on Wesley Parkway to Hamilton Boulevard, then back to I-29. See the map below for the detour route.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
