We aren’t too proud to beg. PLEASE slow down on Iowa roads! We know food is a great motivator, but we want you to be safe as you head to the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival or any other activity this weekend. Last year May ranked second highest in the number of fatalities on Iowa highways. Let’s change that statistic this year by obeying the speed limit and driving chill. Other aggressive behaviors to avoid include:

  • Dodging in and out of traffic
  • Passing on the right
  • Running stop signs or red lights
  • Tailgating
  • Cutting off other drivers or ignoring the right of way

Wherever you’re headed this weekend, slow your sizzle and enjoy the scenery (and bacon)! https://youtu.be/4_2Dgn-CgYw

So far this year in Iowa, 105 people have been killed in traffic crashes. That’s an increase of seven since last Friday. In Iowa in 2022, there were 338 traffic-related deaths.
