Donors are superstars! That’s the theme of this year’s National Donate Life Month. Did you know that 1.6 million Iowans have said “yes” to becoming an organ and tissue donor? Of those, 97 percent signed up at a DMV.
Becoming an organ and tissue donor is easy. Simply answer “yes” to the question you are asked when you get or renew your driver’s license. We’ll do the rest and get your name submitted to the Iowa Donor Network.
In 18 DMV locations, you’ll see “tribute” plaques which honor a donor or recipient from that community and encourage everyone who reads these stories to sign up to become a donor. This award-winning program is now being replicated in other states to encourage organ and tissue donation.
