The Iowa DOT is excited to announce the launch of our Roadside Chat podcast. We’re working to bring you conversations that let us take deeper dives into traffic safety, programs, and services topics that can help make your life better through transportation. Iowa is a tight-knit community, so we see a podcast as a powerful way to humanize and strengthen our connection to you.
Simply put, it’s an opportunity to geek out on the things you want to know about. Each episode answers your questions, spotlights Iowa DOT experts, and explores the innovations that keep Iowans moving safely. Hosts will take you behind the scenes of Iowa’s transportation network, from roads and bridges, to prepping for winter, to licenses, to transportation modes and so much more. Along the way, we’ll help you understand how we work and what it means for you.
We dropped our first two Roadside Chat podcasts on Spotify with a 20-minute episode on Parent Taught Driver Education featuring Iowa DOT’s Driver Education Program Manager Vania Boyd. We recognized Parent Taught Driver Education as part of National Teen Driver Safety Week because we know that many of you have children who are learning to drive, and you may be interested in learning whether this could be a possible option for your family.
In our second episode, we explore the behind-the-scenes work of Iowa’s winter maintenance operations with Craig Bargfrede, Winter Operations Administrator for the Iowa DOT, and guest Tina Greenfield from the Iowa DOT winter operations team who discuss how they’re preparing us for what weather experts are predicting will be an active pattern
