CLIVE, Iowa – Jan. 29, 2026 – If you drive on northbound Interstate 35/I-80 between the Southwest Mixmaster and Iowa 141 you need to be aware of an overnight closure of northbound on-ramp at U.S. 6/Hickman Road (Exit 125) that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office.
Crews need to place the pedestrian bridge over Interstate 35/I-80 between 10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, weather permitting. If crews need to delay construction the backup date will be Thursday, Feb. 5 until Friday, Feb. 6.
When the northbound on-ramp to I-35/I-80 from U.S. 6/Hickman Road (Exit 125) is closed you will follow a marked detour route using westbound U.S. 6/Hickman Road, 128th Street, and eastbound Douglas Avenue to reach an on-ramp for northbound I-35/I-80.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
