There are two different types of field surveys done by the Preliminary Survey Section.
1. The Full DTM survey.
This type specifies that all information is to be collected in the field. This will include all topography items needed to create the plan sheets and all information needed to create an accurate digital terrain model.
2. The Partial DTM survey.
This type of survey combines field information with information collected by the Photogrammetry Section. Typically, the field crews will collect all items from shoulder to shoulder on roadways, all draws, and drainage structures. Before information is collected in the field, contact should be made with the Photogrammetry Section to discuss what additional areas will need to be collected in the field that are obstructed in the photos. There may need to be additional meetings to finalize the location of these areas. The Photogrammetry Section will provide information on where these areas are located.
